Club Outing – Royal Hospital Kilmainham Outing

9 February 2026 | Club Outings

On 17th January, we set off on the second outing of the year in again dubious weather. However, we did manage to get periods of dry so everyone could make the most of the options outdoors.

The brief for this outing was to photograph the stunning 17th century classical architecture, the serene gardens, modern art installations and peaceful courtyards. Unfortunately, the historic chapel was not available.

Eighteen members turned up and set about exploring the beautiful gardens surrounding the main buildings before the rain set in. Then people were able to continue with the indoor options which meant we were able to complete the outing in the timescale set out. Members also managed to photograph some of the more unique and unusual options on view.

After two hours everyone retired to the café in the basement where a very pleasant time was spent eating, drinking (non-alcoholic refreshments I must add) and comparing notes on the morning and from everyone’s reaction they seemed to enjoy their morning.
